After six years as president of the Spain-USA Chamber of Commerce in Miami, Mallorcan native Javier Estades, CEO of Tabacalera USA, proud- ly steps down from his position, attributing the achieved results not only to himself but to the entire team. He is determined to continue supporting the success of Spanish companies in the United States. “This is a country where you can succeed,” says Estades in an in- terview with EFE. He recently received the Order of Civil Merit from Spain in recognition of his work at the Chamber, which he shares with his executive role at Tabacalera USA, an American company in the premium cigar sector with Spanish origins and Spanish leadership. Estades, who studied in the United States and has been living in South Florida for the past 12 years, spoke with EFE to assess his tenure at the Chamber of Commerce and to share his learnings with Spanish entrepreneurs who wish to make the leap to Miami. In Spain, there is a lot of talent, and the United States is a country where you can thrive. Throughout the conversation, he emphasized that Miami is not only a gateway to the United States but also to Latin America. He advised entrepreneurs to have a well-crafted business plan and flexibility to adapt to the environment before venturing into the US market. What motivated you to join the Spain-USA Chamber of Commerce? Something I have learned here in the United States, where I have been for 12 to 13 years, is the importance of giving back to society and being able to help other individuals and companies that have the enthusiasm and desire to come to the United States.
